41st Ryder Cup Winners!

The US Team celebrated their victory as the 41st Ryder Cup winners on Sunday 2nd October.

Congratulations to Team US and well done to our boys too!

The 41st Ryder Cup winners finished with a result of 17 points to 11, their first win since 2008. Europe entered the competition as the cup holders after 3 consecutive wins, but after a terrific tournament, Team Europe had to deal with their fate. Paris 2018 cannot come quick enough!

Interestingly, we here in The Golf Shop were warmed to see Captain Davis Love III dedicate their win to Arnold Palmer, whom as we know sadly passed away the Sunday before. Just like us, one of Palmer’s bags was used to honour ‘The King’.

Palmer was Ryder Cup US Captain in 1975 played at Laurel Valley Golf Club, Pennsylvania, which he also co-founded. Fittingly, on Friday’s opening foursomes, one of his bags from 1975 was placed on the first tee in tribute.

So, it’s all over for another 2 years! Next stop Paris 2018.

St Andrews is preparing for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which begins here on Thursday 6th October, concluding on Sunday 9th.

We’ll be blogging all our Dunhill chat, so stay tuned!
